Affiliate Disclosure
Plain English: how we make money, and why it doesn't change what we recommend.
What affiliate links are
When we link to a seller, some of those links are "affiliate" or "referral" links. If you click one and buy a kit, a carport, or a product, or request a quote that turns into a sale, the seller may pay us a fee or a small percentage. You pay exactly the same price you would have paid otherwise, the commission comes out of the retailer's margin, not your pocket.
Programs we participate in
BarnWise may join referral and affiliate programs run by building kit sellers, metal building and carport dealers, and retailers (Amazon included, through the Amazon Services LLC Associates Program). We list the programs here as we join them. Wherever a link on a page earns us money, the same rules apply.
How it affects our recommendations
It doesn't. We compare buildings and kits on what actually decides a build: what the package includes and excludes, frame type and span, the snow and wind ratings it is engineered for, warranty terms, and the full cost from kit to finished building. We name the trade-offs and say who each option is not for. If the best option in a category has no affiliate program, we still recommend it. If a product we earn on turns out to be a poor choice, we say so.
Prices and availability
Prices, specifications, and availability change often and are set by the seller, not by us. Steel and lumber prices move, freight depends on your distance from the plant, and the frame you need depends on your site's design loads. Every price we quote carries the month and year we read it. Confirm the current price, inclusions, and engineering with the seller before you buy.
Questions
If anything here is unclear, or you believe a recommendation is influenced by a commission, tell us. We take editorial independence seriously. See our About page for how we research and choose.
